    Position Summary
    The ED Registered Nurse provides competent, compassionate nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting. Working closely with an interdisciplinary team, you will manage acute conditions for patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-acuity environment and demonstrates a strong commitment to patient safety and exceptional teamwork.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    • Patient Assessment & Triage: Rapidly assess, prioritize, and admit patients in a 29-bed emergency department (including 6 designated fast-track beds).
    • Direct Patient Care: Perform rounding checks, administer medications, and oversee overall patient treatment.
    • Emergency Interventions: Execute life-saving procedures, closely monitor patient vitals, and respond to rapid changes in patient conditions.
    • Family Communication: Clearly and compassionately communicate updates, diagnoses, and care plans with family members.
    • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work seamlessly with doctors, technicians, and other hospital staff to ensure safe, continuous, and high-quality care.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant patient records in accordance with Magnet and hospital standards.
     
    Qualifications & Requirements
    • Education: RB Degree (RN Diploma, ADN, BSN, or MSN).
    • License: Valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of Virginia.
    • Experience: Previous ED experience strongly preferred; however, experienced acute care/floor RNs will be considered.
    • Certifications:
      • Basic Life Support (BLS)
      • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 90 days of hire.
      • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
