Operating as a full-service, 24/7 department of HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast , our North Channel facility delivers top-tier adult and pediatric emergency care to the East Houston community without the bottleneck of a traditional, crowded hospital campus. In this dynamic role, you will practice at the top of your license, utilizing your critical thinking and rapid-assessment skills to manage diverse emergency populations with on-site access to advanced digital imaging, a full-service laboratory, and rapid, direct-admission pathways into our partner acute-care hospitals . Job Summary and Qualifications As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes. What you will do in this role: Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management. What qualifications you will need: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing is required. BSN is preferred. Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date). Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certification are required. NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date 1 year of RN working experience in freestanding ER or hospital ER required.
