Oncology Research Nurse Position Summary

The Oncology Research Nurse is responsible for collecting, abstracting, and reporting data pertaining to clinical trials; will serve as a study contact for physicians enrolling patients and participants enrolled in clinical trials at Peninsula Regional Medical Center and will assist in the maintenance of specific oncology databases. The nurse will assist in coordinating research activities with physicians and their office staff, screen patients and enroll them on protocols. The nurse will serve as liaison with patients and family members to explain options, provide informed consents, and explain expected treatment. The nurse will coordinate activities between the physicians, patients and all departments involved in providing test and treatments for the patients placed on protocols.

Oncology Research Nurse Position Requirements

Education

• Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland.
• B.S.N. degree preferred.
• Certification (OCN) preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of one to three years of work experience in cancer related clinical trials research.
• Ability to use the personal computer demonstrating proficiency in computer principles.

Oncology Research Nurse Schedule

• Works weekly; occasional weekends or off shifts may be necessary.
• Must be able to occasionally provide emergency unscheduled assistance.

Oncology Research Nurse Benefits
