Work Schedule: 

90% FTE, Day/Evening shift. Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 am - 8:30 pm. Hours are based off the operational needs of the department. You will work at Eastpark Medical Center in Madison, WI.

Clinical Research Nursing is an exciting specialty on the cutting edge of modern medicine. Through research and collaboration with partners across the state, country, and even the world, patients have access to new and novel treatments and interventions that can improve their lives and the lives of others. The Clinical Research Unit mission is to create a research unit that provides participant and family centered care, demonstrates exemplary professional practice, and provides quality data and research resources.
 

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to:

  • Care for patients in the Clinical Research Unit – a 14-room dedicated research facility that serves both investigator-initiated and industry studies.
  • Care for outpatient adults participating in research studies across multiple disciplines. Currently, we are primarily seeing oncology patients, but over time we anticipate an increased variety in our patient population including Alzheimer’s disease, pulmonary, endocrine/metabolic, infectious disease, and more. In addition, we see participants enrolled in healthy volunteer studies. 
  • Provide direct patient care on the clinical research unit, including administration of chemotherapy and novel treatments. Obtain vital signs, perform venipuncture, perform ECGs, access central lines and ports, complete comprehensive head-to-toe assessments, and process laboratory samples in accordance with research protocols.
  • Assist with research study protocol implementation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred

Work Experience

  • 6 months of relevant clinical nursing experience Required
  • Specific to EP Lab- Previous moderate sedation experience Required
  • Additional years of relevant clinical nursing experience Preferred
  • Prior involvement in clinical procedures in area of specialty, including successful work or involvement in other hospital-wide project work Preferred
  • Experience in an academic medical setting Preferred
  • Specific to Gastro/Endo & Generations - Previous moderate sedation experience Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) where patients are receiving care or may work as eligible per state licensing regulations Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support/CPR Upon Hire Required
  • Certification in area of specialty Preferred
