REGISTERED NURSE
SUMMARY
Coordinate total nursing care for patients using nursing standards and the nursing process; participate in patient and family teaching; provide leadership working cooperatively with other health care providers.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited School of Nursing. Specialty units may have additional requirements according to their policy.
Current State Nursing License.
Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.
Must obtain NIH stroke certification prior to the completion of orientation in the position. Thereafter, must maintain NIH stroke certification, annually. Refer to Administrative Policy A-148 for specific stroke education requirements.
Per Diem (PD) Employee Guidelines
- Work Hour LimitationLeadership acknowledges that Per Diem (PD) employees are not permitted to work in excess of 1,820 hours per calendar year.
- Scheduling Requirements for Applicants Seeking Extended HoursPD applicants requesting to work more than 24 hours per week shall be required to fulfill one weekend per monthortwo weekend shifts per month, as determined by the operational needs of the unit. Additionally, such employees will be scheduled for two holidays per year, rotating between winter and summer assignments.
- Traditional Per Diem CommitmentApplicants seeking a traditional PD schedule (approximately 16 hours per month) must commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week, or an equivalent of 16 hours per month. Final approval of this arrangement will be at the discretion of the hiring manager.
- Experience PreferenceA minimum of two years of nursing experience is preferred but not required. The hiring manager will determine eligibility based on the applicant’s interview performance and relevant professional experience.
