Description
Beacon Veterinary Specialists is a board-certified criticalist led 24/7 Emergency & Specialty Hospital seeking experienced Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) to join our Emergency & Critical Care team!Pay: $40.00 – $50.00 base per hour (+ differential if applicable)Schedule: Flexible options including 3x12 and 4x10 weekday only (no recurring weekends required!)Location: Fremont, CAResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
Level 2 ER RVTs*
Perform procedures like chest tube maintenance, placing feeding tubes, and tracheostomy tube maintenance.
Monitor patients up to ASA level 4, recognizing and preventing hypo and hyperthermia, and responding to signs of shock and respiratory failure.
Administer treatments such as hypertonic saline, lipids/hetastarch, and chemotherapy.
Perform advanced procedures like jugular cath/PICC line placement and complicated cystocentesis.
Lead CPR drug administration, compressions, and set up EKG/monitoring.
Engage in aggressive animal handling and provide care for spinal cases and patients on pressors.
Level 3 ER RVTs*
Manage complex medical cases such as ASA 4 or higher anesthesia, TIVA for surgeries, and use of ventilators.
Oversee critical care situations, including CPR leadership and advanced emergency response.
Supervise and mentor junior staff, leading by example in patient care and technical procedures.
Engage in complex patient care scenarios, including insulin CRI monitoring and handling epileptic cases.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies and contribute to the continuous improvement of veterinary practices.
*Internal leveling is determined based on experience and an on-site interview at the discretion of our clinical management team.
Qualifications
Active California RVT license
Minimum 3 years of experience in an emergency veterinary hospital
Skilled in patient handling and restraint
Strong technical and communication skills
RECOVER BLS/ALS certification (preferred)
