Kennedy Krieger Institute is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and team-oriented Rehabilitation Aide/Transporter to support our rehabilitation programs and help deliver exceptional patient care. In this role, you will work alongside Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants to assist with patient care activities, transport patients, maintain treatment areas, and support daily clinical operations.

What You''ll Do
Patient Care Support
- Assist clinicians with therapeutic exercise and functional activity programs under direct supervision.
- Help patients with transfers, mobility, dressing, and hygiene needs.
- Escort and transport patients safely throughout the clinic.
- Apply and remove electrodes, orthotic devices, adaptive equipment, and rehabilitation modalities as directed.
- Monitor patient comfort and report concerns or adverse responses to clinical staff.
Clinical Operations
- Prepare, organize, sanitize, and maintain treatment areas before and after therapy sessions.
- Follow all policies related to patient safety, infection control, confidentiality, and standard precautions.
- Assist with equipment setup, cleaning, inventory management, and storage.
- Identify safety concerns and assist with quality improvement efforts.
Patient & Family Experience
- Welcome patients and families to the clinic.
- Provide clinic tours and general program information to new patients and caregivers.
- Assist with appointment reminders and scheduling support in coordination with clinical staff.
Team Collaboration
- Participate in departmental meetings, training activities, performance improvement initiatives, and regulatory readiness efforts.
- Support operational, administrative, and maintenance functions that contribute to high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to lift and transfer patients and equipment up to 35 pounds.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred
- Associate''s Degree.
- Enrollment in a healthcare, rehabilitation, nursing, or related academic program.
- Experience working or volunteering in a hospital, clinic, rehabilitation, or healthcare setting.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, neurological conditions, or acquired disabilities.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients and rehabilitation equipment up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to remain active throughout the workday, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and assisting with patient activities.
- Ability to travel between Kennedy Krieger locations as needed.
Work Environment
- Position requires on-site presence.
- Occasional flexibility outside of standard work hours may be required.
- May involve exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and challenging patient care situations consistent with a healthcare environment.
Minimum pay range
USD $15.00/Hr.
Maximum pay range
USD $23.00/Hr.
