Job Description

Standard Job Description

Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability. Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives. May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks. As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability. May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing, and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.

Plan and execute reliability testing activities to include Reliability Demonstration testing, Accelerated Aging, Highly Accelerated Life Test (HALT), and Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS) development. Test experience required with skills of developing test plans, conducting formal test readiness reviews, test execution, troubleshooting/failure investigating, providing status, and writing test reports.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience)

3-5 + years of hands‑on reliability testing experience, including HALT, HASS, accelerated aging, and reliability demonstration testing

Proven ability to develop comprehensive test plans and test procedures in accordance with industry standards (e.g., MIL‑STD‑810, IEC 60721)

Experience conducting formal Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and leading test execution teams

Strong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills (root‑cause analysis, fault isolation, data interpretation)

Proficiency in test instrumentation and data‑acquisition systems (e.g., oscilloscopes, thermal chambers, vibration tables, data loggers)

Ability to generate clear, concise status reports and detailed test reports for cross‑functional stakeholders

Knowledge of reliability prediction methods (e.g., Weibull analysis, Arrhenius, Coffin‑Manson) and statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, Python/R)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of presenting findings to engineering leadership and customers

Familiarity with configuration management and documentation control (e.g., PLM, Document Management Systems)

Ability to work safely in a lab environment and adhere to EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) protocols

Strong organizational and project‑management abilities to prioritize multiple test campaigns and meet schedule commitments.

Desired Skills

Design and implementation of reliability test programs (HALT, HASS, accelerated aging, reliability demonstration)

Development of detailed test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria

Conducting formal Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and coordinating cross‑functional sign‑offs

hands‑on test execution-including set‑up, calibration, and operation of environmental, vibration, thermal, and electrical test equipment

Systematic troubleshooting and root‑cause failure investigation (fault isolation, data‑driven analysis)

Generation of clear, regular status updates and comprehensive test reports for stakeholders

Proficiency with data‑acquisition and analysis tools (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, Minitab, JMP)

Knowledge of reliability prediction models (Weibull, Arrhenius, Coffin‑Manson) and statistical analysis techniques

Familiarity with industry standards and guidelines (MIL‑STD‑810, IEC 60721, NASA‑STD‑8739)

Strong written and oral communication skills for technical documentation and presentations

Ability to manage multiple test projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet schedule milestones

Experience with configuration‑management and document‑control systems (PLM, DOORS, SharePoint)

Commitment to safety and adherence to EHS procedures in a laboratory environment.
