Reliability Maintenance Technician – Electrical & PLC

Position Summary

ZenTech Consulting is seeking an experienced Reliability Maintenance Technician – Electrical & PLC for an established industrial manufacturing client. This position is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional with strong electrical troubleshooting skills and experience maintaining and troubleshooting PLCs, automated production equipment, and industrial machinery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining equipment reliability, diagnosing electrical and controls-related issues, performing preventive and predictive maintenance, and responding quickly to production equipment breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial electrical and control systems
• Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, I/O, sensors, relays, motor controls, and related automation equipment
• Diagnose electrical faults using schematics, wiring diagrams, meters, and other test equipment
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment
• Troubleshoot motors, drives, VFDs, starters, contactors, sensors, and control circuits
• Identify root causes of recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical repairs as needed
• Support production by responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime
• Assist with equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and start-ups
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical documentation
• Utilize PLC programming software and diagnostic tools to identify controls-related problems
• Follow all OSHA, electrical safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and company safety procedures
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and document completed repairs and preventive maintenance
• Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and uptime

Qualifications

• 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and industrial controls experience
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs
• Experience with VFDs, motors, sensors, relays, starters, and control panels
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, including hydraulics and pneumatics
• Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs
• Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and industrial safety practices
• Ability to use electrical test equipment such as multimeters and related diagnostic tools
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Experience

• PLC troubleshooting with platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell
• Experience with HMI systems and industrial automation
• Experience troubleshooting servo systems, encoders, and automated equipment
• Electrical or industrial maintenance certification
• Experience in a heavy manufacturing or steel-processing environment

What We're Looking For

We are specifically looking for a true industrial maintenance technician, not a general building maintenance technician. The ideal candidate is someone who can walk up to a down production machine, diagnose the electrical or controls issue, troubleshoot the PLC and associated components, and make the necessary repairs to get the equipment back into operation.

Strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting experience is a key requirement for this position
