This role is within our Red Star Yeast team. Red Star delivers a range of high-performing yeast and related products that empower bakers and food manufacturers to create consistent, flavorful, and high-quality baked goods. What you bring to the table:

The primary purpose of this position is to load out crumbled, block, or nutritional yeast trucks, supply departments with materials, maintain plant cleanliness, and unload trucks or rail cars as scheduled. As the relief operator, shifts and schedules may change to accommodate department needs and fill in for other operators. The relief operator is to have an understanding of all jobs in the General Services department. When not covering, this role follows a rotating schedule. Week 1 working hours are Tues-Fri from 6a-2p and Sun from 6a-12p. Week 2 working hours are Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri from 6a-4p.

What you'll do as a Relief General Services Operator:

• Demonstrates an unwavering commitment to Lesaffres safety-first culture by strictly following all safety protocols and participating in required safety programs
• Prepare crumbled, block or nutritional yeast for shipment, load the trailers as per loading procedure, and fill out the loading paperwork.
• Supply plant departments with necessary raw materials and packaging items
• Perform routine and non-routine cleaning inside and outside the facility as required by the department master cleaning schedule and/or the General Service Supervisor or Lead Operator.
• Maintain the warehouse and cooler keeping each location clean and orderly.
• Document, inspect and unload materials as per written procedures.
• Assist other departments with cleaning or production functions.
• Convert anhydrous ammonia to Aqua ammonia.
• Convert bulk products to liquid solutions to be used in the plant.
• Hook up and unload railcars, as per written procedures.
• Assist in inventory control by monitoring levels.
• Maintain control sheets documenting unloading of all bulk items.
• Verify quantity of items on railcar; verify car is empty to return to RR.
• Cross train into other departments.
• Special projects directed by General Services Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, or Plant Manager.
• Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Understanding of valves, pumps, pipes, vessels, and batch creation preferred
• Requires ability to operate cleaning equipment and supplies such as vacuum, mop, and floor scrubber
• Requires ability to operate forklift
• Requires ability to prioritize and organize tasks, and follow through to ensure completion of assignments
• Communication skills and customer service skills needed in relationships with others inside the company
• Computer proficiency is preferred
• Ability to work under minimal supervision is required
• Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks and follow through on them
