Job Summary: The Metal Building Design Engineer is responsible for the structural design, analysis, and optimization of pre-engineered metal buildings to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and internal manufacturing constraints. This role works closely with drafting, project management, manufacturing, and sales teams to deliver cost-effective, structurally sound building solutions that align with company objectives and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities: 

Structural Design & Analysis:

· Perform structural analysis and design of metal building frames, secondary framing, and connections using industry-standard software (e.g., MBS, AutoCAD, SkyCiv, etc.).

· Ensure designs comply with applicable codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, AISI, MBMA) and project-specific requirements.

· Evaluate and design modifications for existing structures when necessary.

Technical Collaboration & Support:

· Work closely with drafting and detailing teams to ensure accurate representation of engineering intent in shop drawings and erection plans.

· Provide guidance to project managers, sales, and customer service teams on technical feasibility and design constraints.

· Support field service teams with structural clarifications and issue resolution during construction.

· Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes for engineering-related errors.

· Stay up to date with advancements in metal building design, materials, and construction methods.

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

Required:

· Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

· Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe.

· 3+ years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB).

· Proficiency in structural analysis software and metal building design tools.

· Strong understanding of steel design, load paths, and connection detailing.

· Knowledge of relevant building codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, MBMA, AISI).
