Remote Life Insurance Sales Representative — 1099

Location: Remote — South Carolina
Work arrangement: Fully remote

Position Overview

The Weatherspoon Agency is hiring a Remote Life Insurance Sales Representative to meet virtually with individuals and families who have requested information about available life insurance and supplemental benefit options.

This is a client-facing insurance sales position. Representatives assess client needs, explain available coverage, recommend suitable products, and assist clients with the application process.

This is not a salaried customer-service position. It is a 1099 independent-contractor opportunity with commission-based compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Contact prospective and existing clients using company-provided leads
  • Conduct virtual appointments by phone and Zoom
  • Explain life insurance and supplemental benefit options
  • Identify client needs and recommend suitable coverage
  • Complete applications and enrollment documentation
  • Follow up with applicants and existing policyholders
  • Maintain accurate client and activity records
  • Complete required product, compliance, and sales training
  • Follow all insurance regulations and company procedures

Compensation

Compensation is based on commissions earned from eligible insurance policies sold and issued.

Eligible representatives may also qualify for:

  • Production bonuses
  • Renewal income
  • Performance-based incentives

There is no guaranteed base salary, hourly wage, or minimum level of earnings. Actual income depends on individual activity, completed sales, issued business, and policy retention.

Representatives do not earn income simply by recruiting other representatives.

Leads and Sales Process

  • Company-provided client leads
  • No door-to-door prospecting
  • No requirement to purchase leads
  • Client meetings are conducted remotely
  • Representatives are responsible for consistent outreach and follow-up

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional and dependable
  • Comfortable discussing insurance products and completing sales presentations
  • Able to manage an independent remote schedule
  • Reliable computer, telephone, and internet connection
  • Willing to follow a structured sales and compliance process
  • Must reside in the state associated with this posting
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Previous insurance or sales experience is helpful but not required.

Licensing Requirements

An active state life insurance license is preferred but not required when applying.

Candidates who are not licensed must complete all applicable state licensing requirements before conducting insurance business. Any examination, fingerprinting, background-check, or state licensing costs must be clearly disclosed before onboarding.
