DescriptionLocation: 80 Maiden Ln Summary: The Senior Staff Accountant is an essential member of the Fiscal staff with responsibilities related to providing timely and accurate financial accounting, analyses, and reporting primarily for the Federation Services-related entities in which Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) provides such services. The services include: Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of subsidiary and general ledgers, reconciling and analyzing accountsPrepare journal vouchers, review coding, draft monthly financial statements, and prepare audit work papers and audit drafts.Prepare and submit vouchers/claims for government and non-governmental contracts.Prepare Governance reports, monthly financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.Track development projects, milestone progress/completion, and determine revenue recognitionThe Senior Staff Accountant operates under the guidance of the Director of Finance Federation Services and must be a team player with good communication, accounting, and computer skills. These skills are required to effectively perform analyses and accounting work to support the timely and accurate production of financial information, as well as meet audit requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prepare and/or supervise timely and accurate contract accounting associated with government contracts and foundation grants:Regulatory filings (i.e., claims, budget modifications, close-outs, and advances)Revenue, receivable, and expense reconciliations.Ensuring the integrity of financial results related to government contracts and grants, revenues, receivables, earned unbilled, and advances, and the preparation of related standard journal entries and reconciliations; andMonitoring and following up on outstanding receivable balances with the funding sources to maximize cash flow, which is critical to the organization.Provide a monthly calendar citing the key fiscal dates for each entity; prepare a monthly department summary report of accomplishments and issues.Other assignments and special projects as required, including fiscal work in non-Federation Services related entities, ad hoc accounting/economic assignments, and analyses requested.Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Be able to travel up to 3 days a week to offsite remote locations. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Additional weekend and evening hours may be required to meet agency deadlines. Working conditions and physical demands required: The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer for at least 70% of the time.Travel to other sites minimally, using vehicle or public transportation, traverse city streets; occasionally ascend/descend stairs, and be exposed to outside weather conditions.Carry a laptop to offsite work locations.Ability to work with multiple demanding deadlines.Pay: $92K - $100K Qualifications Education and/or experience required:Bachelor's with CPA orBachelor's in Accounting with 4 years of relevant experienceExperience with CFR and Lawson Financial Systems is a plusAccounting for Non-Profit and/or Housing-related experience, a plusSignificant Working Relationships: Executive, operational, and fiscal staff, including Controller's Group, Senior Financial Management, auditors, programs, and Legal Counsel.Catholic Charities and Catholic Charities Community Services are equal opportunity employers.
