Job Title: Renewable Project Manager

Job Description

The Renewable Project Manager leads renewable energy construction projects from initial planning through construction and closeout. This role oversees budgeting, scheduling, and field execution while coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams. The position focuses on delivering solar, wind, or utility-scale energy projects safely, on time, and within budget, while maintaining strong communication with clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead renewable energy construction projects through the full lifecycle from planning and pre-construction to construction execution and project closeout.
  • Build, manage, and track project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports to ensure financial performance and cost control.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and timelines, adjusting plans as needed to meet milestones and deadlines.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors, vendors, and field teams to ensure quality work, adherence to scope, and timely completion.
  • Lead regular project meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders to review progress, address issues, and align expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and OSHA regulations across all project activities and jobsite operations.
  • Coordinate inspections, utility connections, and permitting requirements, including communication with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Monitor project progress in the field, identify risks or issues early, and implement proactive solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Provide clear leadership, direction, and support to project teams, promoting accountability, collaboration, and a strong field culture.
  • Maintain strong, professional communication with clients and stakeholders, providing updates, managing expectations, and supporting long-term relationships.
  • Collaborate with electrical contractors or EPC partners to align design, construction, and commissioning activities on utility-scale projects.
  • Apply lean and best-practice construction management principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance project performance.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of project management experience in construction or renewable energy.
  • Proven experience managing full project lifecycles from planning through closeout.
  • Strong background in construction management with direct responsibility for field operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting for construction projects.
  • Hands-on experience with scheduling and managing project timelines.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and overseeing jobsite operations.
  • Knowledge of construction safety practices and compliance requirements, including OSHA standards.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead meetings and coordinate diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate project and field teams.
  • Experience with solar, wind, or utility-scale energy projects.

  • Experience with permitting, utility coordination, or AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) coordination.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Procore, Primavera, and Microsoft Project.
  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in renewable energy construction, including solar, wind, or other utility-scale projects.
  • Knowledge of utility coordination processes and requirements.
  • Experience working closely with AHJs on inspections, permitting, and approvals.
  • Familiarity with lean construction principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience in electrical construction environments and coordination with electrical trades.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with field teams and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and project controls.
