Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics/RRT

Summary:

• Duration: 59-day assignment
• Traveler only

Responsibilities:

• Administer and monitor oxygen therapy.
• Administer aerosolized drug therapy, including pediatric tents and pentamidine therapy.
• Administer humidity therapy.
• Set up, operate, maintain, and monitor all types of ventilators.
• Manage ventilator-dependent patients during internal transportation.
• Provide CPAP therapy.
• Make respiratory measurements, including bedside spirometry and respiratory mechanics.
• Wean and extubate ventilator-dependent patients.
• Perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
• Conduct patient assessments.
• Perform pulse oximetry and capnography measurements.
• Administer BiPAP therapy and CPAP therapy in conjunction with ventilators.
• Sample arterial blood gases from the radial artery.
• Conduct blood gas analysis in specified areas.
• Document respiratory therapy procedures in medical records.
• Handle billing and maintenance of departmental records.
• Operate all equipment in accordance with department policy.
• Participate in the department's Quality Assurance Program.
• Disinfect equipment.
• Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Associate's Degree in Applied Science and Respiratory Therapy required.
• Licensed NYS Respiratory Therapist.
• Current BLS certification.
