Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Hyannis, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Hours: 36 Hours/Week
Shift: Rotating Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), Every Other Weekend & Holiday
Compensation:
- Travel Rate: $60–$65/hour ($2,070 – $2,242/week) – based on experience
- Local Rate: $50–$55/hour ($1,725 – $1,897/week) – based on experience
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality respiratory care to patients in an acute care setting. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical expertise and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and identify acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions
- Initiate, manage, and monitor ventilatory support, including ventilator settings and weaning protocols
- Apply lung-protective strategies and troubleshoot ventilator issues
- Follow therapist-driven protocols, policies, and best practices
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and sputum collection
- Interpret ABG results and other respiratory data
- Conduct bedside spirometry and capnography
- Monitor respiratory status during intra- and inter-facility patient transport
- Respond to emergency situations including Codes and Rapid Response Teams (RRT)
- Assist with intubations, conscious sedation, and bronchoscopic procedures
- Administer therapeutic gases including oxygen, Heliox, and high-flow oxygen therapy
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Qualifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
- Active Massachusetts Respiratory Therapy License
- Current BLS Certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Minimum 1 year of critical care experience preferred
- Strong communication and clinical skills
