    Description

    A full-time Respiratory Therapist opportunity is available at a 221-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center in Sanford, Florida. This facility offers a comprehensive cardiovascular program, including open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and cardiac rehabilitation, along with advanced services in orthopedics, spine care, robotic surgery, and acute inpatient medical rehabilitation. This role provides the opportunity to work in a high-acuity environment supporting complex patient care needs across multiple specialties.

    The Respiratory Therapist serves as a key member of the patient care team, delivering and monitoring a wide range of respiratory therapies. Responsibilities include performing patient assessments such as breath sounds, airway patency checks, and cuff pressure evaluations, as well as conducting diagnostic procedures to determine and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory interventions. The role involves administering oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and chest physiotherapy, along with assisting in airway management and mechanical ventilation support. The therapist also participates in emergency response situations, supports transport of ventilator-dependent patients, and ensures airway integrity during resuscitation efforts.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments including breath sounds, airway patency, and ventilator parameters.

    • Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy treatments.

    • Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation support.

    • Assist with airway management, including placement of artificial airways.

    • Monitor patient response and intervene when changes in condition occur.

    • Assist with transport of ventilator-dependent patients.

    • Respond to emergent respiratory and airway situations, including resuscitation events.

    • Maintain accurate documentation of all respiratory care provided.

    • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes.

    Qualifications:

    • Completion of a two-year AMA-approved respiratory care program (Associate degree or equivalent) required.

    • Current NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Florida State Respiratory Care license required. CRT candidates may be considered.

    • Minimum of six months recent acute care RRT experience required.

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.

    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required within six months of hire.

    • Strong critical care skills and ability to function in a high-acuity trauma setting.

    Schedule:
