You'll partner closely with the Executive Chef to execute seasonal menus, special events, and new culinary initiatives while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

    Who You Are

You understand that great restaurants are built on consistency, preparation, and teamwork. You remain calm under pressure, make thoughtful decisions, and take pride in developing your team while creating memorable guest experiences.

You enjoy mentoring aspiring culinarians and creating an environment where people can grow, succeed, and take pride in their work.

    What You'll Do

    • Lead the daily culinary operation of Crush Ultra Lounge, ensuring consistent execution of all menu items and culinary standards.
    • Coach, mentor, schedule, and develop the culinary team while fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
    • Maintain exceptional food quality, presentation, consistency, and speed of service during all operating hours.
    • Partner with the Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef on menu development, seasonal features, promotions, and specialty events.
    • Execute new menu rollouts, recipe implementation, and culinary training for all kitchen team members.
    • Ensure all stations are properly prepared through effective production planning and daily mise en place.
    • Monitor labor productivity, scheduling, and staffing levels to meet financial and operational goals.
    • Manage food costs through proper purchasing, portion control, inventory management, and waste reduction.
    • Oversee inventory counts, product rotation, receiving, storage, and ordering while maintaining appropriate par levels.
    • Ensure compliance with all company policies, health department regulations, sanitation standards, and food safety procedures.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment while ensuring all equipment is properly maintained.
    • Collaborate with front-of-house leadership to deliver seamless guest experiences and resolve service opportunities quickly.
    • Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance coaching, and performance evaluations.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
    • Perform additional leadership responsibilities as assigned to support the success of the culinary department.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of three to five years of progressive culinary leadership experience in a restaurant, resort, hotel, or high-volume dining environment.
    • Previous experience leading a kitchen team, including scheduling, coaching, and performance management.
    • Strong knowledge of modern cooking techniques, scratch preparation, food presentation, and kitchen operations.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead high-volume service while maintaining exceptional quality and consistency.
    • Experience with purchasing, inventory management, food cost controls, labor management, and budgeting.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles.
    • California Food Handler Card and ServSafe Manager Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
    • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.

    Physical Requirements

This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive movements while working in a commercial kitchen environment. Team members regularly work around hot cooking equipment, open flames, sharp tools, refrigerated storage areas, and cleaning chemicals while maintaining strict safety standards and wearing required personal protective equipment.
