Restaurant Host/Hostess

We are assisting an exciting new upscale-casual restaurant opening soon in Norfolk, Virginia, with building its opening team. We are seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and hospitality-driven professionals who are ready to deliver exceptional guest experiences and help establish a strong culture from day one.

This highly visible position sets the tone for each guest’s visit and helps maintain an efficient flow throughout the restaurant.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet every guest warmly and professionally

• Manage reservations, walk-ins, waitlists, and seating assignments

• Provide accurate wait-time estimates and regular guest updates

• Seat guests according to the restaurant’s rotation and service flow

• Answer phone calls and respond to general restaurant questions

• Maintain an organized, welcoming entrance and host station

• Communicate guest needs and special requests to servers and managers

• Assist with menus and table readiness

• Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return

• Support the front-of-house team during high-volume periods

QUALIFICATIONS

• Food handler certification is required

• Previous restaurant, hospitality, or guest-service experience is required

• Friendly and professional communication style

• Strong organizational and multitasking skills

• Ability to remain calm and courteous when managing wait times or concerns

• Comfortable using reservation and point-of-sale technology

• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance

• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
