Position Overview: 

Reporting to the Retail Procurement & Marketing Operations Manager, the Retail Buyer will play a key role in managing purchasing activities, vendor relationships, and inventory performance across STIIIZY's 60+ California retail locations. 

Working alongside the existing Retail Buyer, this position will own an assigned portfolio of brands and serve as the primary point of contact for those vendor relationships. The Retail Buyer will negotiate pricing, purchasing terms, minimum order quantities, lead times, and promotional support while ensuring stores maintain appropriate inventory levels without overstocking. 

This role requires a strong understanding of retail purchasing, inventory management, and vendor negotiations. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, commercially minded, and comfortable using data to make purchasing decisions that support sales, profitability, and operational efficiency. 

The Retail Buyer will collaborate closely with Distribution, HQ Marketing, and Store Operations to align purchasing strategies with product launches, promotions, and individual store needs. 

This is an on-site position at STIIIZY HQ, Monday through Friday, with weekends and holidays as needed.

• Manage relationships with an assigned portfolio of brands, serving as the primary point of contact for vendors. 

• Negotiate pricing, purchasing terms, minimum order quantities, lead times, and promotional support to improve business performance. 

• Manage restocking activities and purchase orders to maintain appropriate inventory levels across retail locations while minimizing overstock. 

• Monitor inventory performance metrics, including inventory turns, gross margin, sell-through, and return on inventory. 

• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing strategies, reduce aged inventory, and increase inventory efficiency. 

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new brands and vendors that align with the company's retail strategy. 

• Develop and maintain vendor scorecards to monitor supplier performance and identify areas for improvement. 

• Address vendor performance issues while maintaining productive and professional business relationships. 

• Partner with Distribution, Marketing, and Store Operations to coordinate product launches, promotions, and inventory needs. 

• Analyze purchasing and inventory data using Excel to support informed business decisions. 

• Maintain accurate purchase order records and ensure purchasing activities follow established company procedures. 

• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and applicable cannabis industry regulations, including state and local requirements. 

• Other duties may be assigned. 

Qualifications 

• 3–5 years of experience in retail buying, purchasing, procurement, or merchandising. 

• Proven experience managing vendor relationships and independently negotiating pricing and purchasing terms. 

• Strong Excel skills, including experience working with pivot tables, lookup functions, and inventory reports. 

• Demonstrated ability to analyze inventory metrics, including inventory turns, gross margin, and sell-through. 

• Experience creating, processing, and managing purchase orders. 

• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to manage multiple vendor relationships and purchasing priorities in a fast-paced retail environment. 

• Minimum 21 years of age. 

• Ability to work on-site at HQ Monday through Friday, with availability to work weekends and holidays as business needs require. 

• Cannabis industry experience is highly preferred but not required. 

• Experience with multi-location retail, grocery, convenience, or specialty retail purchasing is highly valued. 

• Familiarity with Metrc, online POS systems, and demand planning tools is a plus. 

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
