The Retail Lead plays a critical leadership role in managing and elevating the Taproom retail experience while serving as a strong and visible floor leader.

Reporting directly to the Head of Taproom Operations, this hourly Lead position leads the organization, presentation, inventory management, and performance of the Taproom retail program, ensuring it reflects the Lawson's Finest brand while driving revenue and guest engagement. In equal measure, this role serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) for a minimum of four shifts per week (20-24 hours), supporting staff performance, service standards, and exceptional guest experiences.

Primary Responsibilities:

Retail Program Ownership & Presentation

  • Lead and manage the Taproom retail program, including apparel and merchandise
  • Ensure retail displays are clean, organized, visually compelling, and easy for guests to shop
  • Maintain consistent brand presentation aligned with Lawson's Finest identity, lifestyle, and values
  • Monitor product flow and maintain well-stocked displays throughout service
  • Identify opportunities to improve retail merchandising, layout, and overall shop-ability
  • Partner cross-departmentally on new retail product launches and seasonal merchandise
  • Support the continued evolution of the Taproom retail environment so it reflects the Lawson's Finest lifestyle, outdoor culture, and community connection

Retail Inventory, Ordering & Organization

  • Manage retail product ordering and restocking
  • Conduct and reconcile monthly retail inventory counts
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and product availability
  • Organize and maintain clean, efficient retail storage areas
  • Monitor sales performance and product movement
  • Identify slow-moving items and support product rotation or adjustments
  • Maintain disciplined inventory practices that support operational efficiency and financial accountability

Retail Experience & Guest Engagement

  • Support retail storytelling by helping guests understand Lawson's Finest merchandise and offerings
  • Ensure team members are comfortable and knowledgeable when discussing retail products
  • Encourage retail engagement as a natural extension of the Taproom experience
  • Support retail sales through thoughtful product placement and team awareness
  • Help evolve the Taproom retail space to improve shop-ability, guest flow, and visual engagement
  • Train and coach team members to confidently connect guests with retail offerings that reflect the Lawson's Finest brand, lifestyle, and community values
  • Encourage authentic guest interactions that position retail as a natural extension of the Lawson's Finest hospitality experience

Floor Leadership & Service Excellence

  • Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) for a minimum of four shifts (20-24 hours) per week
  • Maintain visible, engaged leadership presence on the floor
  • Reinforce Lawson's Finest service standards and hospitality culture
  • Coach team members in real time on guest engagement and service execution
  • Address operational needs and support team performance during service
  • Ensure the Taproom environment remains clean, organized, and welcoming
  • Retail Growth & Program Development
  • Support the continued evolution of the Lawson's Finest Taproom retail program
  • Collaborate with leadership on merchandising improvements and retail strategy
  • Contribute ideas that enhance guest engagement and retail performance
  • Help ensure retail offerings reflect the Lawson's Finest brand, outdoor lifestyle, and community-centered identity

Requirements & Expectations

  • 2-4+ years of hospitality and retail experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience managing inventory and retail merchandising
  • Proven ability to lead within a fast-paced service environment
  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; POS experience (Toast preferred)
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a regular schedule
  • Physically able to meet the demands of the role, including prolonged standing and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be based in or able to reliably commute to Waitsfield, VT

The Lawson's Package:

  • Full-time, non-exempt position
