Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY 

 

The Retail Pharmacist provides safe, accurate, and patient-centered pharmacy services in an independent community pharmacy setting. This role is responsible for dispensing medications, ensuring compliance with all federal and California state regulations, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The pharmacist builds strong relationships with patients and providers, provides clinical guidance, and contributes to the operational and financial success of the pharmacy through high-quality service and efficient workflow management. The pharmacist also supports community health by participating in wellness initiatives, including immunization services and preventive care programs. 

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 

 

 

Education/Licensure/Certification: 

  • Current State of California Registered Pharmacist License required.    

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy  

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. 

 

Knowledge/Experience: 

  • Knowledge of and compliance with California pharmacy law and applicable federal regulations 

  • Previous experience in a retail or community pharmacy setting preferred (independent pharmacy experience highly desirable) 

 

Skills:  

  • Demonstrated ability to ensure timely and accurate dispensing of medications, including efficient workflow management, thorough prescription verification, and adherence to patient safety and regulatory standards 

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients  

  • Proficiency in pharmacy management systems, third-party billing platforms, and workflow optimization  

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the ability to address insurance issues, medication access challenges, and operational inefficiencies
