Job Summary
The Revenue Assistant is responsible for coordinating and executing various aspects of the Daily Revenue Processing and Special Event Program. This position supports fiscal accountability by ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments and proper documentation of receipts. The position also requires monitoring and auditing revenue controls to ensure accurate posting of revenue while maintaining compliance with agency guidelines and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Job Responsibilities
- Manages and controls the inventory of fare media used in the Special Event Ticketing program.
- Reconciles post-event ticket sales using computerized spreadsheets.
- Processes customer claims and refunds received from the Customer Service department.
- Replenishes coin storage units and participates in testing of revenue collection equipment hardware components.
- Secures, documents, and transfers cash revenues collected by the Agency Call-A-Ride Operations to the subcontractor for processing and deposit.
- Verifies and packages Call-A-Ride cash revenues individually for transport to the subcontractor for processing and deposit.
- Maintains and balances the Money-Room Working Fund, accurately posting all associated receipts and disbursements.
- Ensures proper collection and processing procedures for revenues generated by MetroBus and MetroLink Operations.
- Monitors armored car service collections to ensure proper documentation, signage, and recording of revenue transported for processing at the bank or armored car service facility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to account for and reconcile ticket sale revenues while effectively managing fare media inventories.
- Skilled in developing and working with computerized spreadsheets.
- Ability to establish work priorities and efficiently allocate workloads.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for interaction with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to interact effectively with agency management, staff, contract personnel, and the general public.
- Comprehensive knowledge of internal controls related to money handling and processing.
- Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in performing basic mathematical calculations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and analysis.
- Ability to operate office equipment, including personal computers, printers, calculators, and money counters.
- Ability to independently operate equipment used for transporting and processing bulk revenues weighing up to 75 pounds.
Physical Abilities:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move frequently within secure revenue or money-handling areas
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull revenue containers, coin units, or equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, with or without assistance
- Ability to handle cash, coins, and fare media accurately and repeatedly
- Ability to use hands and fingers for repetitive tasks such as counting, sorting, packaging currency, and operating money counters
- Ability to operate revenue-processing and standard office equipment, including computers, printers, calculators, and money counters
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and grasp while accessing storage units or replenishing equipment
- Ability to read and visually verify numeric and written information for reconciliation and documentation
- Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail for extended periods while handling and reconciling revenue
- Ability to communicate effectively while coordinating with staff, contractors, and armored car services
