JOB TITLE:

Advanced RF Repair Technician, External

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Bench Technician with strong expertise in semiconductor RF repair to join our Internal Repair Facility in ATMC, Austin. This role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, modifying, testing, and verifying complex electronic and electro-mechanical equipment at the component level, including RF matchers and generators.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong troubleshooting capability, the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and expertise with advanced test equipment and circuit analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex automatic and logic-controlled electronic systems at the component level
  • Perform troubleshooting and failure analysis of RF equipment, including matchers and generators
  • Modify and test sub-components to meet operational requirements
  • Conduct detailed root cause analysis of major equipment malfunctions
  • Set up, operate, and adjust advanced diagnostic and measurement instrumentation
  • Develop or improvise circuits or test setups to support unique repair scenarios
  • Work independently to complete assigned repairs with minimal supervision
  • Maintain documentation and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and customers

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong background in RF electronics repair, preferably in semiconductor equipment

  • Solid knowledge of:

  • Analog and digital electronics

  • Circuit design (intermediate level)

  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques

  • Proficiency with complex test equipment and instrumentation

  • Voltage meters

  • ESR

  • Oscilloscope

  • Signal generators etc.

  • Good mechanical aptitude

  • Have skills to read schematics and understand circuits.

  • Repair RF Matchers and Generators as well as complex PCB and Controllers using root cause methodology down to component level.

  • Able to perform post repair testing with knowledge of load testing and or signal generation.

  • Enter information into our internal database

  • Perform through-hole, surface mount and fine pitch soldering

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with shifting priorities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds as needed
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Adherence to all safety protocols, including:
  • Electrical safety
  • Mechanical safety
  • Chemical safety

Work Environment

  • Regular interaction with customers, technicians, and management

Qualifications:

  • Minimum associates degree in Electronics
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in bench repair field on Matching units and Generators (i.e. Advanced Energy, Odyssey)
  • Experience in RF theory and AC/DC circuit design

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum associates degree in Electronics
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working in bench repair field
  • Experience in AC/DC circuit design

Additional Skills and Targeted Experience:

Understanding of Smith Charts, spectrum analyzer

High Power DC supply repair, testing and calibration ranging from 1kW to 80kW.

AC and DC Servo/Stepper motor rebuild and test.

Advanced experience in AC and DC circuitry, advance test equipment, simulation software, and discrete semiconductor characteristics.

Labview, Multi-Sim, Cadence or equivalent electrical design software.

Hardware programming language (VHDL, Verilogic, JTAG, etc.)
