Assistant Nurse Manager - Geriatric Psych Unit

Full-Time, 40 hrs/week, 3pm-11pm

• Position is primarily evening shift with flexibility required to support 24-hour patient care operations. Hours may vary based on departmental needs and include weekends, holidays, off-shift coverage, and on-call responsibilities. Serves as a unit-based resource supporting the RN Nurse Manager in maintaining safe, effective operations and continuity of care across all shifts.

Summary:

Serves as a unit-based resource that supports the RN Nurse Manager in the patient care operations for a designated area(s) on a 24-hour basis; plans and develops tactical short, mid- and long-term goals and processes to enhance and improve the operations of the unit to support Summa Health's mission, vision and values; identify barriers to meeting goals; manages, guides, coaches, and evaluates the work performance of patient care staff in a designated area; collaborates with other patient care departments and areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations and services; assists with the management of unit budget plans; assists with calculating a return on investment for unit initiatives; participates in development of evidence-based standards of practice; identifies opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational processes.

Formal Education Required:

a. Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)

b. BSN required

• Master's degree preferred

c. Clinical Certification preferred or required to obtain within two (2) years

d. Current license to practice nursing in the State of Ohio

Experience & Training Required:

a. Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience and demonstrated leadership qualities

j. Maintains and seeks new knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols.

k. Demonstrates computer skills required to perform job functions

Level of Physical Demands:

a. Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
