About the CDU: 

The Clinical Decision Unit is designed for patients who require additional monitoring, testing, or treatment before a decision is made regarding discharge or hospital admission. This dynamic unit offers nurses the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population while developing strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills.

What You'll Do: 

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans
• Monitor patients requiring observation and ongoing evaluation
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, case management, and ancillary departments
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
• Ensure high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered care

Qualifications: 

• Current Georgia RN license or compact state RN license
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• BLS Certification within 30 days of hire
• Acute care, telemetry, emergency department, medical-surgical, or observation unit experience preferred
• Strong assessment, time management, and critical thinking skills

Doctors Hospital of Augusta, part of HCA Healthcare, is a 350-bed hospital that provides a wide range of medical services. It is known for its 24/7 emergency care, Level II Trauma Center, Burn Center, advanced heart care, and Baby-Friendly maternity services. The hospital also offers surgery, women’s imaging, and a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and it accepts most insurance plans. It is located at 3651 Wheeler Road in Augusta, Georgia.

The hospital provides 24/7 emergency care with a Level II Trauma Center and full stroke care, as well as a nationally recognized Burn Center that is one of the largest in the country and offers advanced wound care. The hospital’s laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists, and its Center for Stroke Care is accredited by The Joint Commission. Its electroencephalogram (EEG) laboratory is accredited by the Laboratory Accreditation Board of ABRET.
