Job Responsibilities
Manage human resources to ensure compliance with nursing care standards and budget parameters.
Evaluate and adjust staffing requirements for current and following shifts.
Evaluate, coach, and counsel nursing personnel according to hospital policies.
Monitor adherence to time and attendance policy.
Provide clinical expertise in patient placement and consult regarding bed availability.
Facilitate patient movement through assessment of needs and coordination of transfers.
Communicate effectively to resolve immediate problems and promote continuity of patient care.
Serve as a clinical resource for patient care activities and problem resolution.
Demonstrate professional judgment in response to changing patient/unit situations.
Monitor and evaluate standards of care.
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care as necessary to meet patient/unit needs.
Assist in revision and development of unit policies, procedures, and protocols.
Support organizational goals through performance improvement and educational activities.
Identify education/training needs of personnel and assist in developing in-service programs.
Participate in performance improvement monitoring activities and assist with corrective actions.
Assume responsibility for own professional growth.
Decision Making
Exercise independent judgment in making decisions from diversified alternatives subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationship
Direct supervision of others and preparation of performance evaluations.
Work directly with patients and/or customers, both internal and external.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and staff.
Frequently interact with individuals at Director level or above.
Required Skills & Experience
One to two years of related experience.
Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
Detail-oriented, particularly in examining clinical and numerical data.
Effective conflict management skills.

Position Type: Direct Hire
Shift/Schedule Details: Nights 7 PM - 7 AM (Fri, Sat, Sun or Sat, Sun, Mon) 3x12's
Additional Requirements: Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Surgical Step Down
