Title: RN - Labor & Delivery/Postpartum

Location: Shelby North Carolina

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: 12hr Night Shift - 36

Shift Information: 1900-0700

Clinical Interviewing- Yes

On Call, Call Back Requirements: Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days

Weekend Rotation: EOW

Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

Floating Requirements: Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)



About Facility:
  • 241 licensed beds
  • Level 3 Trauma
  • Teaching Hospital: No
  • Certified Chest Pain Center
  • Stroke Center
Unit Information:
  • Beds: 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite and 1 PACU
  • 4 to 6 patients on average/day
Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years in Labor and Delivery ability to work LDRP

Will you accept a first-time traveler: No

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Labor/Delivery/Postpartum/Newborn care

Patient Ratios:
  • RN: Use AWHONN Staffing Guidelines
  • 1:2 Inactive labor; 1:1 Active Labor; 1:3-4 Couplets
  • CST: 1 per shift
Required Licensure & Certifications: BLS, ACLS, EFM, NRP

Skills required:
  • Labor and Delivery Nurse skills - labor management, circulate cesarean sections, Pre-op, PACU, triage, resuscitation of newborns, Pitocin management, epidural management
  • Ability and willingness to work LDRP setting
Support within the Department:
  • Charge nurse, 24/7
  • Phlebotomy: Yes, for peripheral blood draws
  • IV/VAT Team: None
  • Resource Nurse: When available
  • RT 24/7: Yes, within hospital
  • Hospitalist 24/7: Yes, for newborn care
  • Telemetry monitoring/tech: Fetal Monitoring
Technology/Equipment:
  • EMR: Epic
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Fetal Monitor, Philips Monitor for Newborn
  • Unit specific equipment: Scales, Ultrasound, Ambulation assist device

Floating:
  • Within region and scope of practice
  • Will be required to float per region needs will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice DECLINE if not agreeable
  • Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH)
  • If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
Orientation (facility and unit):
  • NEO
  • 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
  • Weekend rotation: every other weekend
  • Call: Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
  • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
  • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
  • Shift times: 7a-7p and 7p-7a
  • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
