What You'll Do
As an RN Nursing Supervisor, you'll take on a blend of administrative leadership, direct resident care, and team support responsibilities:
Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities
Support the Director of Nursing in managing day-to-day nursing operations.
Help develop and update nursing policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Provide guidance and mentorship to nursing staff, ensuring they follow best practices.
Help coordinate resident services to ensure consistent, person-centered care.
Participate in facility surveys, audits, and quality assurance initiatives.
Team & Personnel Support
Oversee staffing on your shift to ensure adequate and effective coverage.
Provide coaching and feedback, assist with evaluations, and foster positive team morale.
Maintain a professional, supportive, and encouraging environment for staff.
Help manage and resolve employee concerns, ensuring fairness and adherence to policy.
Resident Care & Clinical Duties
Welcome new residents, support admissions, and help with transfers and discharges.
Collaborate with residents, families, and physicians to create individualized care plans.
Make daily rounds to monitor resident health, documentation accuracy, and care quality.
Provide hands-on clinical care when needed, including assessments, treatments, IVs, and specimen collection.
Ensure medication administration, treatments, and safety processes are followed properly.
Care Planning & Documentation
Assist with assessments (MDS), care plans, and interdisciplinary reviews.
Ensure staff understand and follow each resident's care plan.
Promote resident involvement in their own goals and care planning when appropriate.
Safety, Infection Control & Compliance
Support infection control initiatives, safety programs, and emergency preparedness.
Ensure staff use proper PPE, follow sanitation protocols, and maintain clean work areas.
Monitor compliance with state and federal regulations and report issues promptly.
Equipment & Supply Oversight
Help maintain proper stock levels of medications and medical supplies.
Ensure equipment is safely used, maintained, and operated by trained staff.
What We're Looking For
Active, unencumbered RN license in this state (required).
Minimum 2+ years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care.
Strong leadership, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to work independently, stay organized, and prioritize effectively.
Compassion, patience, and the desire to make residents feel valued and supported.
Knowledge of long-term care regulations, clinical standards, and documentation practices.
CPR certification (required). Experience with PCC is a plus.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Ability to move throughout the facility during the workday.
Ability to assist in lifting/moving up to 50 lbs and support resident transfers.
Must be able to handle emotional or stressful situations with professionalism.
Exposure to various clinical environments and conditions may occur.
