JOB SUMMARY

Provides and coordinates direct care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in the Progressive Care Unit utilizing the nursing process. Is responsible for appropriately managing care of assigned patients who present with illnesses and/or diseases whose needs fall between what must be delivered in the ICU and what can be handled on most general medical floors. Demonstrates professional growth and development. Demonstrates a commitment to service, Hamilton's mission, values, and professionalism.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program. BSN or MSN preferred

Licensure/Certification: Current Georgia RN or a multi-state license meeting eNLC criteria professional licensure or will obtain prior to beginning work as a RN. BLS required. ACLS/PALS, CCRN and CPI preferred.

Experience: One or more years of experience required. Critical Care Course/Internship preferred.

Skills: Nursing skills as defined in the Law Governing the Practice of Nursing in Georgia. Additionally, proficient in special skills as demonstrated through completion of the Progressive Care Unit care skills check-off.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Works in typical acute health care setting with pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients experiencing a wide range of medical and/or surgical problems. Required to work flexible schedule including weekends. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
