    Job Summary

    Registered Nurse opportunity within a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Various shifts are available with a weekend rotation requirement.

    This specialized 24-bed unit provides cardiac monitoring and care for cardiac observation patients, procedural patients, and short-stay inpatients with conditions such as chest pain, atrial fibrillation, syncope, NSTEMI, and congestive heart failure.

    The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care to achieve optimal patient outcomes across the lifespan. The role requires strong clinical expertise in a fast-paced, dynamic cardiac environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform age-specific admission and ongoing assessments; develop and revise individualized plans of care

    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, patients, and families to implement and evaluate care plans

    • Administer and document treatments and medications accurately using electronic medical records

    • Identify and address patient and family educational needs in a timely manner

    • Serve as a patient advocate and provide psychological, social, and cultural support

    • Apply knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate care

    • Demonstrate clinical expertise in rapidly changing patient conditions

    • Develop strategies to improve patient outcomes, reduce length of stay, and optimize resource utilization

    • Serve as a role model for clinical practice to coworkers, students, and physicians

    • Manage resources, establish priorities, and adjust the environment to meet patient care needs

    • Participate in performance improvement and quality initiatives

    • Support orientation and training of new employees

    • Provide constructive feedback and participate in unit and organizational activities

    • Assist in educational activities within the unit/department

    Qualifications

    Education:
    Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or approved program eligible for licensure

    Licensure/Certification:

    • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for RN licensure

    • AHA BLS-HCP certification required

    • Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) may be required based on unit

    Other Requirements:

    • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems

    • Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
