Description
Job Title: Robot Programmer
Department: Methods Automation - Engineering/Robot Programming
Methods Machine Tools was established in 1958 with three employees and a handful of refurbished machines. Since then, the company has become one of the largest privately owned machine tool importers in North America.
Position Summary:
The Robot Programmer is responsible for the programming, configuration, commissioning, and optimization of industrial robotic systems used in CNC machine tending and manufacturing automation applications. This role works closely with mechanical engineers, controls engineers, application engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure robotic cells operate safely, efficiently, and meet production requirements.
The ideal candidate possesses strong robotic programming experience, a solid understanding of machining operations, and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize automated manufacturing systems both in-house and at customer facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Robot Programming & Integration
System Commissioning
Troubleshooting & Optimization
Documentation & Standards
Create and maintain robot programming standards and best practices.
Develop technical documentation including:
Robot backup files
Operating procedures
Setup instructions
Troubleshooting guides
Project completion reports
Maintain revision control of robot software and system documentation.

Team Collaboration

Education
Experience
Required Technical Skills
Robotics
Experience programming one or more of the following:
FANUC
ABB
Motoman/Yaskawa
KUKA
Kawasaki
Knowledge of robot path optimization and cycle-time reduction techniques.
Manufacturing Automation
Controls & Communications
Basic PLC troubleshooting experience.
Knowledge of industrial networks including:
Ethernet/IP
Profinet
DeviceNet
Modbus TCP/IP
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and system layouts.
Software & Documentation
Key Competencies
