Robotics Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

As a Robotics Engineering Intern at Lunar Outpost, you will play a crucial role in developing, testing, and refining the guidance, navigation, and control software that powers our robotic systems. All interns will work directly alongside full-time engineers on real, engaging, and impactful projects, providing tangible value to Lunar Outpost products. This internship offers a truly end-to-end experience that promotes collaboration at every stage of autonomous robotic development.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement software for real-time robotic systems, focusing on algorithms related to motion control, path planning, and sensor integration Participate in the coding, testing, and debugging of software modules using C++, Python, and ROS Assist in the simulation and testing of robotic systems to validate software functionality and system performance Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware Document software design, testing procedures, and results, contributing to technical reports and user manuals

Qualifications:

Pursuing a Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, or a related field with a strong software emphasis Experience with programming languages such as C++ or Python and familiarity with robotics middleware, preferably ROS2 Solid understanding of algorithms related to robotics, such as SLAM, motion planning, or state estimation Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Can effectively demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, while also excelling in collaboration and teamwork in an interdisciplinary environment Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills under pressure and in stressful situations Fueled by a passion for space exploration and the boundless possibilities beyond our world

Early-June (June 7, 2027) to late August (August 20, 2027). Start and end dates are flexible with the interns school schedule. This is an in-person internship; Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Golden, Colorado.
