Job Title: Rolling Operator Reporting to: Strip Supervisor and or Plant ManagerFLSA Status: HourlyProduction – Metal Fabrication Position Summary:The Rolling Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring rolling mill equipment to produce materials that meet quality, production, and safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities:Set up and operate rolling mill equipment according to production specifications.Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain proper dimensions and product quality.Inspect materials before, during, and after processing for defects and compliance with quality standards.Measure product dimensions using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.Identify mechanical issues and report equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel.Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and downtime reports.Load and unload raw materials and finished products using forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment (if certified).Follow all safety procedures and company policies.Keep the work area clean and organized in accordance with housekeeping standards.Work closely with supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams to achieve production goals.Assist with changeovers and equipment setup between production runs.Meet daily production targets while minimizing scrap and material waste.Competencies and Authorities:High School Diploma or equivalent work experience/qualifications.Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance.Strong knowledge of machinery and equipment.Good understanding of electricity, plumbing, and carpentry, as well as a good understanding of technical prints and engineering drawings.Good mathematical and computer skills.Effective communication skills Certification: Certified Forklift Operations preferred, but training available upon hiring. Work Environment: Production areas can be demanding, sometimes requiring additionally hearing, eye, thermal, or other protection on the manufacturing floor. At a minimum, safety glasses and steel-toe (or equivalent) work shoes are mandatory PPE for any employee working in a Production area.
