SUMMARY: The RootED Teacher Leader ensures a seamless intake process for students referred to RootED, supporting their transition into the program with clear structures and effective communication. This role bridges communication between Lewiston Public Schools, Tree Street Youth Center, families, and community partners to support students who are not currently accessing school due to academic, behavioral, medical, or transitional needs.

Beyond intake, this role plays a critical part in preparing students for a successful transition back into school. The Teacher Leader ensures that students are equipped for the expectations of their next learning environment (i.e. fully completing their re-entry plans and participating in all necessary restorative conversations to repair harm and rebuild relationships before returning).

SALARY: Salary: $45,518.26 - $85,857.57 (SY26/27)

Daily/Weekly responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary contact for school administrators (APs, counselors, case managers) referring students to RootED.
• Coordinate incoming student referrals with District and school administration to determine appropriate placement (RootED, tutoring, or alternative supports).
• Maintain active communication with school staff and families, coordinating intake meetings and follow-ups.
• Track and monitor students receiving abbreviated tutoring or transitional services.
• Ensure students receive appropriate academic instruction and services while at RootED to support continued learning and credit attainment.
• Monitor student academic progress and collaborate with teachers to ensure instruction aligns with their learning needs and future placement.
• Lead bi-weekly Team meetings with RootED staff to review student progress and program operations.
• Act as a conduit between RootED and school buildings, ensuring clear communication and continuity of services.
• Mediate conflicts and foster dialogue to resolve disputes within the school community (as they come up)
• Advocate for the community with schools and other agencies to ensure students and families receive necessary support.
• Uphold confidentiality, ethics, and a professional demeanor in all interactions and responsibilities.

Monthly/Semesterly responsibilities:

• Collaborate with District and Longley Administration to develop systems that improve access to information, education, and training for all RootED and OWL staff members at Longley.
• Facilitate ongoing collaboration between RootED and sending schools to ensure students are academically prepared for their next learning environment.
• Work with school administrators to ensure students transition into appropriate placements that align with their academic progress and support needs.
• Develop and sustain relationships with community organizations to provide students with access to essential resources, including mental health services, extracurricular activities, and career exploration opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Longley School Director to co-design and deliver District and school-based professional development sessions for RootED and OWL staff throughout the year
• Co-lead RootED design meetings to align program goals with district needs and best practices.
• Support reentry planning for students transitioning back to traditional school settings
• Analyze trends in referrals, academic progress, and placements to inform program development and district-wide intervention strategies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 4 years of teaching experience in content area position preferred. Preference will be given to teachers who have demonstrated teacher leadership contributions within their individual schools and/or the greater district.
