Job Description

Safety Coordinator, Wet Utilities (Sewer, Water, Storm Drain)

Boudreau Pipeline | Corona, CA | Full time | $70,000 to $75,000 per year

You care about getting everyone home safe, and you know what that takes on an open trench: shoring, confined spaces, traffic control, and heavy equipment working close to people. Here you'd be the safety resource crews can count on, out on active projects every day, not behind a desk writing policy.

Boudreau Pipeline is a Southern California underground utility contractor based in Corona. We install sewer, water, and storm drain systems and handle SUE work, for private developers and public agencies alike. We're hiring a Safety Coordinator to support our safety program, help build a positive safety culture, and keep our field and office teams safe and compliant. You'll work with Operations, Project Management, Human Resources, Risk Management, and Safety leadership.

What you'll do

  • Conduct jobsite inspections, safety audits, field observations, and hazard assessments.
  • Spot unsafe conditions and behaviors, and share corrective action recommendations with supervisors and crews.
  • Escalate serious hazards to Safety Management and Operations leadership.
  • Support investigations of incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage, including Root Cause Analysis, and track corrective and preventive actions.
  • Keep safety records in order: inspection reports, incident logs, and training records.
  • Analyze safety trends and incident data to find ways to improve.
  • Help develop and improve our safety policies, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), and safe work practices.
  • Help write and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
  • Provide safety support for excavation, trenching, confined space entry, traffic control, heavy equipment operations, and PPE.
  • Lead safety orientations and toolbox talks.
  • Take part in safety meetings and support safety committees and employee engagement efforts.
  • Be a go-to contact for field crews with day-to-day safety questions.
  • Assist Safety Management with regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance work.
  • Respond to incidents and safety concerns as needed, including occasional after-hours support.

What you bring

  • 2 to 4 years of safety experience, ideally in construction, utilities, pipeline, civil construction, or industrial operations.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations (preferred).
  • Experience supporting field operations, supervisors, and project teams on safety matters.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with excavation, trenching, confined space entry, traffic control, heavy equipment, and PPE practices.
  • An understanding of incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to build good working relationships at every level.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Safety management software experience is preferred.
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

The work environment

You'll split your time between the office and active construction sites. Expect walking on uneven terrain, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 25 pounds, and be ready for outdoor weather, dust, noise, and moving equipment. You'll wear the right PPE at project sites.
