    Description

    EGC Safety Coordinator

The EGC Safety Coordinator is a field-based safety professional who partners with project leadership, supervision, craftworkers and trade partners to execute Messer/EGC's safety program and support a Zero Injury culture. This position provides hands-on safety leadership and support across EGC projects by identifying and correcting hazards, supporting pre-task planning, conducting employee training, monitoring compliance, and assisting with incident response and investigation. The role requires regular presence on active construction sites and the ability to travel where EGC project needs require.

    What You Will Do

    • Partner with EGC safety manager, project leadership, and field supervision to implement safety policies, project-specific safety plans and client requirements.
    • Maintain a visible presence in the field; conduct routine site inspections, document findings and follow corrective actions through completion.
    • Participate in preconstruction and pre-task planning to identify hazards and establish effective controls before work begins.
    • Review daily work activities, JSA's, permits and high-risk work plans for completeness and field execution.
    • Coach employees and trade partners on safe work practices and intervene when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed.
    • Conduct project orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings and task-specific training for employees.
    • Verify compliance with applicable OSHA requirements, Messer/EGC standards, project rules and client expectations.
    • Assist with incident and near-miss reporting, investigation, root-cause analysis, corrective action tracking and communication of lessons learned.
    • Maintain accurate project safety records, including site safety plans, inspections, training, incidents, corrective actions and other regulatory documentation.
    • Coordinate with operations and safety leadership on upcoming risks, project trends and resources needed to support safe execution.
    • Provide safety support to one or multiple EGC projects as assigned, including temporary coverage, project start-up and work in remote locations.

    Travel and Work Location

    • This is a field-based position supporting EGC projects and may not be limited to one permanent office or project location.
    • Frequent travel is required based on project assignments and schedules. Assignments may include travel wherever EGC work is performed.
    • Travel may include same-day trips, overnight stays and extended assignments away from the employee's home location. The frequency and duration will vary by project and may change with limited notice.
    • The employee must be able to travel between jobsites and work locations and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
    • The role may require work outside normal business hours, including early mornings, evenings or weekends, to support active construction operations, shutdowns, emergencies or critical project activities.

    What You Will Bring

    • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, construction management or a related field.
    • Working knowledge of OSHA construction regulations and construction hazard controls.
    • Experience supporting safety on active construction projects; experience with a general contractor or self-perform construction operation is preferred.
    • Ability to recognize hazards, communicate expectations clearly and work effectively with project leaders, supervisors, craftworkers and trade partners.
    • Experience delivering safety orientation and training.
    • Strong organization, follow-through, documentation, oral communication and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and electronic safety reporting systems.
    • CSP, CHST or similar safety certification is a plus.
    • Ability to work in active construction environments, including walking uneven terrain, climbing stairs or ladders and wearing required personal protective equipment.
