Safety Manager | Austin, TXMechanical Construction | Austin Convention Center ProjectSheakley is hiring an experienced Safety Manager to support a mechanical contractor on a major construction project at the Austin Convention Center. The project is currently focused on underground work, making this a strong opportunity for a safety professional with hands-on mechanical construction experience.Position DetailsStart Date: ASAPLocation: Austin, TXContract Type: 1099Project Duration: Approximately 4 monthsPay Rate: $44 to $48 per hourPer Diem: $125Schedule: 40+ hours per week, with the potential to increase to approximately 60 hours during project ramp-upWhat You'll DoProvide daily safety leadership for mechanical construction and underground workConduct site inspections and identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and work practicesSupport job hazard analyses, pre-task planning, and daily safety meetingsMonitor excavation, trenching, underground utility, equipment, and mechanical installation activitiesVerify compliance with OSHA requirements, company policies, and project-specific safety proceduresCoach employees and subcontractors on hazard recognition and safe work practicesEnforce PPE, housekeeping, access-control, and site-safety requirementsInvestigate incidents, near misses, and safety concernsMaintain accurate inspection reports, training records, and corrective-action documentationPartner with project leadership to address hazards before they affect employees or operationsRequired QualificationsPrevious mechanical construction safety experienceCurrent OSHA 30Current First Aid/CPR certificationStrong working knowledge of construction safety requirementsExperience supporting underground construction activitiesAbility to communicate effectively with field crews, subcontractors, and project leadershipComfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment with increasing hours during ramp-upHighly PreferredOSHA 500OSHA 510OSHA 511Ready to Get Started?If you have mechanical construction safety experience and are available to begin quickly in Austin, we want to hear from you.Apply today for immediate consideration.
