Location: Puerto Rico (Open to work in multiple projects across the island)

Office Location: Mayaguez or Bayamon 

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with Teksol's environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies and procedures. This role provides strategic leadership in safety management while also performing on‑site Safety Officer duties when required to support active projects. Ensures regulatory compliance, promotes a strong safety culture, and provides direct field oversight to maintain safe working environments across all Teksol operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Develop, implement, and oversee EHS policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, PR OSHA, EPA, and applicable regulations.

  2. Establish and execute safety strategies that uphold the highest standards and integrate company policies into all operations.

  3. Supervise, lead, evaluate, and develop personnel under their charge, including Safety Officers, through performance evaluations, continuous feedback, and support in recruitment processes when required.

  4. Review work plans, JHAs, and risk assessments to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper controls.

  5. Lead incident and accident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.

  6. Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and develop mitigation strategies.

  7. Analyze safety performance metrics and trends, recommending improvements and enhanced protocols.

  8. Maintain OSHA records, including OSHA 300 logs, training certifications, and compliance documentation.

  9. Prepare detailed safety reports based on audits, inspections, and assessments for senior management.

  10. Perform Safety Officer duties on project sites when required to support active operations.

  11. Conduct regular site visits, perform field inspections, and enforce safety standards.

  12. Prepare, review, and follow up on risk analysis documentation to ensure regulatory and client compliance.

  13. Manage work permits for site entry and exit, ensuring accurate documentation.

  14. Facilitate Toolbox Talks and safety briefings for assigned projects.

  15. Perform daily inspections of equipment, tools, scaffolding, and other safety‑critical assets.

  16. Investigate incidents and near misses, draft reports, and recommend corrective actions.

  17. Maintain inventory, distribution, and oversight of safety equipment across projects.

  18. Ensure personnel receive appropriate safety training based on job functions.

  19. Interpret and enforce client‑specific SOPs and applicable safety regulations.

  20. Communicate safety status, risks, and findings to Project Managers, clients, and internal leadership.

  21. Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.

  22. Promote a strong safety culture, encouraging participation in safety programs and initiatives.

  23. Develop and maintain emergency response plans for fire, chemical spills, extreme weather, and other scenarios.

  24. Coordinate drills, training exercises, and emergency response planning.

  25. Represent Teksol in safety, health, and environmental meetings.

  26. Collaborate with management to integrate safety initiatives into business operations.

  27. Support HR in verifying safety certifications and monitoring renewals.

  28. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across safety functions.

  29. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to support Teksol's safety operations.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or Technical Degree in a related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar position preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience.
• OSHA 30-hour certification in General Industry or Construction.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point; and navigation on OSHA web pages, among other related pages.
• Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Ability to offer guidance and formal training to groups.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, performing simultaneous tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Organizational capacity and time management to establish an order of priorities.

This position requires traveling and working non-regular hours, such as weekends and holidays, if necessary.
