Job Function/Purpose:

The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving the company safety program within Beacon Communications Companies providing (structured cabling, security, audio-visual, nurse call, and related systems). This role partners with Operations and Field Leadership to prevent incidents, ensure regulatory and customer compliance, and build a culture where every employee and subcontractor works safely—every day. The salary range for this role is between $110,000.00 - $125,000.00, commensurate on relevant education, experience, and other job related factors. This position will also receive a $600.00 monthly vehicle allowance to assist with business related travel.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Own and maintain the company Safety Program for low-voltage operations, including policies, training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA requirements and customer/jobsite safety requirements (badging, infection control, PPE, permits, and site-specific rules).
  • Lead incident prevention through field engagement: jobsite observations, hazard identification, and corrective action tracking.
  • Manage incident response and reporting, including investigations, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training and communications (new-hire orientation, OSHA topics, toolbox talks) to drive consistent field execution.
  • Lead fleet and driver safety programs in partnership with Operations/Fleet, including driver qualification expectations, vehicle inspection practices, vehicle incident review, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to measure safety performance (leading/lagging indicators) and embed safety into planning, staffing, and project execution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled jobsite safety inspections/observations; document findings, assign corrective actions, and verify closure.
  • Support project startup by reviewing safety requirements, site-specific plans, and subcontractor compliance expectations; participate in kickoff meetings as needed.
  • Develop, review, and coach teams on Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)/Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), pre-task plans, and safe work methods (ladders, lifts, fall protection, material handling, and confined areas where applicable).
  • Provide safety leadership and guidance to field staff and supervisors; reinforce stop-work authority and safe decision-making.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver training: OSHA topics, defensive driving, incident prevention, PPE, ladder/lift safety, and other required customer/site modules.
  • Maintain safety documentation and records (training logs, inspection reports, corrective action logs, SDS access, and required postings).
  • Manage incident response: immediate notifications, scene documentation, witness statements, investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation reporting and return-to-work support in partnership with HR and Operations .
  • Support compliance with customer access requirements, including background checks, jobsite badging, and site-required screenings and vaccinations where applicable.
  • Support contractor/subcontractor safety qualification and oversight (prequalification, orientation, monitoring, and corrective action follow-up).
  • Track and report safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near misses, observations, training completion) and present trends and recommendations to leadership.
  • Own fleet/vehicle safety initiatives in partnership with Fleet/Operations, including driver safety expectations, MVR monitoring support, vehicle inspections, motor vehicle incident investigations, and preventive actions (training, coaching, and policy reinforcement).

Job Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated safety leadership experience in construction or specialty trades; low-voltage, electrical, or technology systems environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and practical field application (hazard recognition, inspections, corrective actions, incident investigation).
  • Ability to coach and influence field teams; confident communicating expectations and addressing non-compliance respectfully and consistently.
  • Experience developing and delivering training (toolbox talks, orientations, refresher training) and maintaining training documentation.
  • Strong written skills for incident reports, corrective action plans, and customer-facing safety documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfort using systems for tracking metrics, audits, and compliance records.
  • Experience supporting a fleet/driver safety program (policies, training, incident review, and corrective actions) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of common jobsite hazards relevant to low-voltage work (ladders, lifts, fall hazards, overhead work, energized environments, housekeeping, and tool safety). Familiarity with NFPA 70E concepts is a plus.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, Occupational Health, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of safety experience in construction/trades, including field audits and incident investigation.
  • OSHA 30, CAL OSHA certification required (or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe).
  • CHST, CSP, or similar credential preferred.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to travel regionally and meet customer jobsite access requirements.

Work Environment:

Work environment will be an office and active customer jobsite environment (healthcare, education, commercial, industrial) and will require regular site visits to locations under construction, renovation, or occupied facilities. Jobsites will have a variety of environmental factors including but not limited to noise, dust, temperature changes, overhead work, and moving equipment.

Physical Requirements:

Requires prolonged sitting, standing, and walking; frequent bending, stooping, and reaching; manual dexterity for computer work and field documentation. Must be able to safely navigate active jobsites, including climbing stairs and accessing work areas. May occasionally lift/carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Must maintain a clear background check to satisfy customer jobsite badging requirements and comply with customer-required screenings, vaccinations, and drug/alcohol testing protocols where applicable.
