Location: Madison, Wisconsin – This is a full-time, 100% on-site position working between the office and active jobsites, offering a hands-on opportunity to lead safety initiatives where they matter most.

Note: Candidates must have a valid OSHA 30 certification and at least 1+ year of Safety Manager experience along with 1+ year of construction field safety experience. OSHA 30 certification is a non-negotiable requirement.

Job Description

  • Lead and continuously improve the company's safety program across multiple construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and industry safety regulations.
  • Manage OSHA reporting, safety documentation, SDS, prequalification platforms, workers' compensation claims, and return-to-work programs.
  • Conduct regular jobsite inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver new hire orientations, annual safety meetings, toolbox talks, and field safety training.
  • Support project planning by reinforcing safety expectations during pre-construction meetings.
  • Administer DOT substance abuse programs, union drug testing, MVR reviews, and driver qualification files.
  • Track and analyze safety metrics to identify trends and improve performance.
  • Partner with project managers, field leadership, vendors, insurance providers, and regulatory agencies to maintain compliance.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, leadership, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 certification required.
  • 1+ year of Safety Manager experience.
  • 1+ year of construction field safety experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
  • Experience conducting safety training, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Experience with workers' compensation, drug testing, and MVR programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and safety management systems.
  • CSP, CHST, or related certifications preferred.
  • Degree in Safety, Risk Management, Business, or related field preferred but not required.
