    Job Description

    Safety Manager

    Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time

Location: East Bay, California (field travel throughout the service territory)

    Salary: $115K - $150K per year, DOE

    About the Role

Innovation Consulting LLC is partnered with an established Northern California electrical contractor to recruit a Safety Manager who will lead companywide safety across commercial, industrial, multifamily, service, and infrastructure work. Based in the East Bay office, this hands-on leader will split time between the office and active jobsites, strengthening systems, coaching field teams, and helping ensure safe, compliant execution across the organization.

The ideal candidate combines practical construction judgment with strong knowledge of California safety requirements and electrical hazards. This person can earn credibility with electricians and field leaders, identify risk before incidents occur, and translate regulatory requirements into clear, workable practices. The selected candidate will be hired as a full-time employee directly with our client.

    Key Responsibilities

    Safety Program Leadership & Compliance

    · Own, maintain, and continuously improve the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Code of Safe Practices, field safety procedures, and related documentation.

    · Monitor compliance with Cal/OSHA, applicable federal OSHA requirements, NFPA 70E practices, client requirements, and company policies.

    · Partner with leadership, operations, project management, and field supervision to embed safety into preconstruction planning, scheduling, and daily execution.

    Field Safety & Risk Management

    · Conduct regular jobsite inspections and audits across projects within approximately 100 miles of the Brentwood office; document findings, assign corrective actions, and verify closure.

    · Lead or support job hazard analyses, site-specific safety planning, energized-work controls, lockout/tagout practices, PPE selection, fall protection, excavation, confined-space, and emergency-response planning.

    · Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage; identify root causes, maintain required records, and drive corrective and preventive actions.

    · Exercise stop-work authority when an imminent hazard or serious policy violation is identified.

    Training, Coaching & Reporting

    · Develop and deliver new-hire orientation, toolbox talks, supervisor training, and recurring field education; maintain accurate training and certification records.

    · Coach foremen, superintendents, project teams, and employees to build consistent accountability without losing the practical realities of field production.

    · Track leading and lagging safety indicators, analyze trends, and provide clear reports and recommendations to management; coordinate with insurers, brokers, customers, and regulators as needed.

    Qualifications

    Required

    · Five or more years of progressive construction safety experience, including meaningful field responsibility; electrical-construction experience strongly preferred.

    · Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA construction requirements, IIPP administration, incident investigation, hazard assessment, and corrective-action management.

    · OSHA 30-Hour Construction credential and current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain promptly.

    · Ability to interpret electrical and construction hazards and apply practical controls across industrial, commercial, multifamily, service, and infrastructure environments.

    · Strong communication, training, documentation, and relationship-building skills, including confidence working with craft employees and senior leadership.

    · Valid driver license and ability to travel regularly to jobsites within approximately a 100-mile radius; occasional early starts or schedule adjustments may be required.

    Preferred

    · Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

    · CHST, CSP, ASP, or OSHA 500 Authorized Construction Trainer credential.

    · NFPA 70E, qualified electrical worker, or electrical-safety-program experience; bilingual English/Spanish capability.

    Compensation & Employment

Employment Type: Direct hire, full-time employee of the client.

Relocation: Relocation is required for any candidate not within a commutable distance of the Brentwood office.

    Salary: $115K - $150K per year, DOE

Benefits: Medical and dental coverage, 401(k), paid holidays and vacation, and educational assistance.

Work Model: Field and office based.

Schedule: Primarily Monday-Friday, with flexibility for project needs, training, incidents, and early jobsite activity.

Travel: Regular local travel within approximately 100 miles of the Brentwood office. A company vehicle or mileage reimbursement will be provided.
