Work includes the installation of electric, gas, telecommunications, water, and wastewater infrastructure.The project also includes trenching, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), and utility installation activities. This position will provide field-focused safety oversight to help ensure work is performed in accordance with project safety requirements and applicable procedures.QualificationsThe candidate must have both:OSHA 30-Hour Construction cardCurrent CPR / First Aid / AED certificationPlus ONE of these three qualification pathsOption 1: Experience-BasedMinimum 7 years of experience in the type of construction work being performedAt least 3 of those years must have been in a safety capacityOROption 2: Safety CertificationSafety certification from an accredited/recognized organization, such as BCSPExamples would include credentials such as CSP or CHST, assuming accepted by HITTPlus at least 3 years of relevant construction safety experienceOROption 3: OSHA 500 / OSHA 510Completed OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 510Plus at least 3 years of relevant construction safety experienceAdditional Requirements Ability to support a demanding construction schedule of approximately 50-60 hours per week Comfortable working around active underground utility construction operations Ability to work effectively with field supervision, contractors, and project personnelKey ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day safety oversight for underground utility construction activitiesMonitor trenching, HDD, and utility installation operationsIdentify potential hazards and support implementation of corrective actionsPromote compliance with project safety requirements and proceduresWork closely with field supervision and construction personnel to address safety concernsMaintain a visible field presence during active construction operationsSupport safety documentation, observations, and project reportingReinforce safe work practices throughout the projectSkillsConstruction SafetyUnderground Utility SafetyTrenching OperationsHorizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)Hazard IdentificationField Safety OversightSafety DocumentationContractor CoordinationCommunicationKnowledge BaseStrong working knowledge of construction safety practices associated with underground utilities, trenching, horizontal directional drilling, and installation of electrical, gas, telecommunications, water, and wastewater infrastructure.
