What You Can Expect

The Sales Associate III reports to the sales team lead or designee (RSD/RSM or others) and serve as senior clinical experts within the territory. This role provides high-level clinical, technical, and logistical support to the sales team and healthcare providers in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. The Sales Associate III builds and maintains trusted relationships with key surgeons, supports complex procedures across multiple product categories, mentors junior team members, and contributes to strategic account development. This position is critical for clinical excellence, team enablement, and business growth.

How You'll Create Impact

  • Attend and contribute to sales team meetings, offering insights from field experience and procedural expertise.
  • Build strong relationships with priority surgeons and deliver expert clinical support for Zimmer Biomet and MedTech products across joint, sports, trauma, and extremity procedures.
  • Serve as a trusted clinical advisor to key accounts and strategic customers.
  • Proactively support case scheduling, templating, and ensure appropriate implant and instrument selection via SMS.
  • Post-surgery, confirm accurate documentation and replenishment of all Zimmer Biomet products used.
  • Partner with materials management to ensure timely purchase order (PO) collection and billing support.
  • Lead advanced clinical education and training for healthcare professionals, including in-services, scrub tech training, and continuing education events.
  • Act as the clinical point of contact in partnership with the operations team to maintain proper par levels and instrumentation readiness at key accounts.
  • Mentor and support Sales Associate I and II team members through training, development, and on-the-job coaching.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during surgical procedures, demonstrations, and product evaluations.
  • Participate in and occasionally lead educational events, workshops, and professional conferences.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and R&D to provide clinical insight into product development and customer feedback.
  • Support clinical trials by coordinating site initiation, training, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Uphold all compliance, regulatory, and ethical standards in every clinical interaction.
  • Provide case coverage and clinical support during evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Transport Zimmer Biomet products to and from clinical sites when required to support full case coverage.
  • Fully adhere to all Zimmer Biomet SOPs including HCP (Health Care Professionals) interaction guidelines, complaint handling, expense reporting, and training documentation.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Must be mobile and willing to travel.
  • Willing and capable of carrying weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Clinical and technical expertise in orthopedic procedures, instruments, implant systems, imaging, surgical plans, sterile technique, and OR protocols.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate with surgeons and healthcare professionals to translate technical details into practical OR guidance.
  • Display professionalism and presence through a composed, confident, and respectful demeanor, build trust and credibility with clinical staff and surgeons, and maintain a clean, prepared, and professional appearance.
  • Remains attentive to detail to ensure implants and instruments are accurate, clean, and complete, reviews surgical plans thoroughly before each case, and prevents costly errors through prep and vigilance.
  • Work seamlessly with sales representatives, peers, and hospital staff in collaboration and teamwork. Support territory goals and help ensure positive surgical outcomes. Be willing to assist in after-hours cases, call coverage, and teammate development. Working as part of a sales team is essential to the job.
  • In organizational skills, proactively prepares for cases, manages time effectively across multiple facilities and priorities, and documents case activities, usage, and feedback.
  • Remains adaptable and learning focused by quickly learning new products, procedures, technologies, adjusting to surgeons' preferences and variations, and embracing feedback to improve clinical acumen continuously.
  • Communicate clearly in verbal and written form in English.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Your Background

  • An associate's degree, medical certification, or equivalent education/experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in orthopedic clinical support, surgical services, or medical device field roles.
