JOB OVERVIEW

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving advertising revenue across Construction Executive (CE) media properties. This role supports the development and execution of sales strategies and collaborates closely with marketing and product teams to expand revenue opportunities across media channels and ABC event platforms.

Key responsibilities include sales execution, business development, marketing collaboration and product development. The Sales Manager works in partnership with the ABC Meetings & Events team to identify market opportunities and contribute to the development of integrated offerings that drive revenue growth and strengthen market presence across all platforms.

DESCRIPTION OF KEY DUTIES:

  • Manage, sell, and grow a portfolio of accounts Construction Executive (CE) sponsorships and as well as ABC events.
  • Establish and execute key account strategies across CE and ABC.
  • Partner with ABC and CE leadership to develop cross-selling strategies and revenue opportunities.
  • Promote collaboration between ABC and CE sales and marketing teams, including cross-training for designated staff.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry leaders, management, and key marketing personnel at principal customers, prospects, and advertising agencies through sales calls, trade shows, and construction industry events.
  • Support Finance with forecasting, rate development, estimates, compensation planning, and expense management.
  • Partner with the Editor-in-Chief to ensure customer satisfaction include ad placement, content concepts, product development.
  • Establish deadlines, tracking tools, and a process for closing issues in collaboration with the Editor-in-Chief, leadership, production, and Finance.
  • Consult with internal and external stakeholders on opportunities, refinements, and market trends to drive revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief to develop an editorial calendar that serves readers and supports advertising revenue goals.
  • Direct marketing, circulation, research, and execution of revenue-driving strategies, including development of sales and promotional tools; ensure quality control of special sections, offers, and packages.
  • Recommend event offerings, sponsorship opportunities, and related promotional strategies to attract marketers and drive revenue.
  • Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief to shape and promote digital products and offerings.
  • Monitor sales performance to anticipate opportunities and risks and ensure progress toward revenue goals.
  • Monitor digital engagement and performance; recommend and establish benchmarks for success.
  • Recommend account strategies, packages, value-add opportunities, and pricing to ensure profitability and attainment of revenue and market goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of ABC's strategic priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in digital media and event sales, or a closely related role.
  • Experience in B2B media, including media marketing, client services, and/or product development.
  • Sales management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the construction industry is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Customer-service mindset with a focus on process improvement.
  • Familiarity with current meeting and event industry trends.

Work Environment: This role is primarily performed in a standard office setting with minimal noise and typical working conditions.

  • Depending on job responsibilities, work may also be conducted at off-site locations such as construction sites, industry events, or partner facilities. These environments may involve variable weather, uneven terrain, or other safety considerations.
  • ABC supports flexible work schedules to accommodate various lifestyles and promote a healthy work-life balance. With manager approval, a hybrid remote work arrangement may be available, with the ABC office as the primary work location.
