Position Summary
We are seeking a driven Sales Representative to develop and grow customer relationships within the construction and heavy equipment industry. This position will be responsible for generating new business, expanding existing accounts, and serving as a trusted resource to contractors and equipment users throughout the assigned territory.
The ideal candidate understands the construction industry and is comfortable working directly with contractors, project managers, equipment managers, fleet personnel, and business owners. This individual should be highly motivated, relationship-oriented, and comfortable spending significant time in the field developing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business through prospecting, jobsite visits, referrals, networking, and direct outreach.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, construction companies, equipment managers, and other industry customers.
- Identify customer equipment needs and recommend appropriate solutions based on project requirements, application, availability, and budget.
- Manage the complete sales process from initial prospecting and quoting through negotiation, closing, and ongoing account management.
- Conduct regular field and customer visits to develop relationships and identify upcoming projects and revenue opportunities.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospective and existing customer opportunities.
- Prepare quotes, proposals, pricing, and other sales documentation.
- Negotiate pricing and commercial terms while maintaining appropriate margins and profitability.
- Partner with operations, service, rental, transportation, and other internal departments to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Maintain accurate customer, opportunity, activity, and pipeline information within the CRM.
- Monitor competitive activity, market conditions, construction projects, and customer trends throughout the territory.
- Follow up consistently on outstanding quotes, leads, and opportunities.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's equipment fleet, capabilities, services, and competitive advantages.
- Meet or exceed established revenue, margin, activity, and customer-development goals.
- Represent the company professionally at customer meetings, jobsites, industry events, and networking opportunities.
Qualifications
- Previous sales experience within heavy equipment, construction equipment, equipment rental, industrial equipment, or a related industry preferred.
- Knowledge of construction equipment such as excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, articulated trucks, skid steers, water trucks, and other earthmoving equipment is highly desirable.
- Existing relationships within the construction industry are a plus.
- Strong prospecting and business-development capabilities with the ability to generate new accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to build long-term customer relationships and grow account revenue.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to independently manage a territory and sales pipeline.
- Comfortable working in both office and field environments, including active construction jobsites.
- CRM experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory.

Compensation
Competitive base salary plus an uncapped commission structure offering significant earning potential. Compensation will be commensurate with industry experience, existing customer relationships, and demonstrated sales performance.
