Position Overview

OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. Saw and Planer Operators produce world-class products using safe machine operating techniques and effective lean manufacturing principles. This key position configures and operates saws and planer machines to produce parts according to specifications and Kanban card requirements. The Saw and Planer Operator must be a team player and committed to delivering only the best quality to our customers.

Position Responsibilities

• Promotes Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.
• Set up the Saws and Planers, observe operation, and inspect work products to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
• Read job orders for product and job specifications such as calibrations, dimensions, tolerances, parts to be run, or special manufacturing instructions.
• Select and adjust the controls for the Saw Cutting and Planer Equipment as well as the cutting tools, to meet the specifications as they specify on the production run sheet, including speeds and feed rates.
• Perform routine lubrication and preventative maintenance inspections as required.
• Observe all safety rules.
• Assist other Saw and Planer Operators to set up the machines and prepare and ready the finished boards for the Punch Presses which stamp out the Cortex plugs.
• Maintain a neat and well-organized work area.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
