Charles County Government is seeking an experiences SCADA Network Specialist to perform a variety of tasks associated with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the electronic and communications equipment used in the County's water and sewer systems. The role involves working with complex electronic, computer, cybersecurity platforms and communications systems in water facilities, treatment plants, wells, pumping stations, and metering vaults. This includes management and support of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) network, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Field Interface Units (FIUs), fiber optics, network switches, and various instrumentation and communication equipment.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in electrical engineering technology, electronics, industrial automation, instrumentation, or a related field is preferred and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SCADA systems, industrial control systems, and electronic instrumentation, preferably in water/wastewater or utility environments or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Valid driver's license.
Special Requirements/Qualifications:
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Working knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and best practices related to medium and low voltage systems.
Work is subject to frequent interruptions.
Employee is subject to call back in emergencies.
Employee may be on-call during non-business hours for SCADA communication outages, cybersecurity incidents, and automation failures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is regularly active with periods of heavy exertion and is performed in field settings and may be outside. Typical positions require employees to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb stairs, ladders; bend, kneel, crouch and crawl; reach, hold, grasp, and turn objects; feel the size, shape, and temperature of items; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak normally, to use normal or aided vision and hearing, and to detect odors. The employee needs to be agile enough to work under, in, and above equipment, systems, and structures.

The hiring salary for this position is $67,483.85 annually. Internal candidates selected for this position will receive a salary according to the county's promotional pay increase policy. Please confirm that you are acknowledging this is the salary for this position.
