Position Summary
The Scaffold Technician II is responsible for the safe erection, modification, inspection support, and dismantling of scaffold systems on industrial, commercial, and maintenance projects. This position performs skilled scaffold work with limited supervision and serves as a mentor to less experienced crew members while ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Erect, modify, and dismantle various scaffold systems in accordance with engineered drawings, manufacturer guidelines, and company procedures.
+ Read and interpret scaffold drawings, work packages, blueprints, and project specifications.
+ Assist Scaffold Leads and Foremen in planning and executing daily work activities.
+ Verify scaffold components and materials prior to installation to ensure compliance with project requirements.
+ Inspect scaffold materials for defects, damage, and serviceability before use.
+ Follow established work plans, safety procedures, and quality standards during all phases of scaffold construction.
+ Participate in jobsite safety meetings, toolbox talks, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) activities.
+ Identify and report unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, and near misses to supervision.
+ Maintain proper housekeeping and organization of scaffold materials and work areas.
+ Assist with material handling, inventory control, and staging activities to support efficient project execution.
+ Work safely at elevated heights while utilizing appropriate fall protection and personal protective equipment (PPE).
+ Mentor and assist Scaffold Technician I employees in proper scaffold construction techniques and safe work practices.
+ Coordinate effectively with crew members, clients, and other trades to support project goals.
+ Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules.
Qualifications
+ Minimum of 2 years of scaffolding experience in industrial, commercial, or construction environments.
+ Working knowledge of scaffold erection, dismantling, and modification practices.
+ Ability to read and interpret scaffold drawings and project specifications.
+ Knowledge of scaffold components, materials, and industry safety requirements.
+ Experience using hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment.
+ Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills.
+ Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
+ Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
+ OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
+ Scaffold User, Erector, or Competent Person training.
+ Experience in industrial maintenance, petrochemical, refining, power generation, manufacturing, or pulp and paper facilities.
+ Forklift, aerial lift, or telehandler certification.
Physical Requirements
+ Ability to climb ladders and scaffold structures regularly.
+ Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
+ Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
+ Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
