Job DescriptionThe School-Age Teacher conducts and monitors all educational activities that go on within the school age program. S/he coordinates and implements a developmental program that provides children and families with comprehensive quality services that meet the need of working families of children in compliance with state and federal standards. The educational activities relate to meeting the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical needs of children and families. This occurs before public school, after school, full-time during school vacations and in the summer (as a camp counselor).
Responsibilities • Prepare, implement, and evaluate daily classroom activities including ensuring adequate time for homework as needed
• Assist parents in providing for childcare needs and daily routines
• Share the responsibility of providing appropriate care for children with disabilities
• Provide input for Parent/Staff Conferences, as well as for development and evaluation of individual goals of children and families
• Maintain daily childcare information
• Report suspected child abuse to the Director
immediately
• Attend staff orientation and other meetings as requested
• Participate in professional growth and development activities
Minimum Requirements: • A minimum of a CDA degree is required, an associate degree in early childhood education is preferred.
• Two years of childcare or classroom experience.
• Preschool/Child Development experience (preferred)
• Current First Aid/CPR card
• Adequate means of transportation to the Center
These positions require the following clearances• PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check, and the National Sex Offender Registry Clearance (NSOR)
• A health physical with a TB test is also required prior to starting the position.
